J&J Carter led this multi-million-pound refurbishment program to English Racecourses’ Sandown Park Parade Ring. Based on original concept drawings by Rudi Enos, and membrane analysis services provided to structural engineer Jan Bobrowski, the structure was built as a 96m long / 13m span multi-bay conic shaped canopy – each canopy module being sectional so that easy replacements could be performed without having to replace the entire canopy.
The striking appearance of the canopies has given the racecourse a distinctive image suited to its standing in the racing community.
