Birkenhead Park Cricket Pavilion

Client / Location Birkenhead Park Cricket Club, Birkenhead, UK
Year 1994

Established in 1846, Birkenhead Park Cricket Club has the world’s oldest cricket pavilion.

Adding a futuristic element to this, the striking seven conic fabric membrane building was built as an indoor practice space. It uses crossed-portals for economy and stability and incorporates a bar and stewards’ accommodation. Steel tripods were used to anchor the membrane rather than traditional side-guys.
