The Black Hole was an enclosed Jet Star II steel rollercoaster designed by Anton Schwarzkopf, with rides taking place in near complete darkness, enabled by the blackout nature of the structure. The ride began with an unusual spiral lift hill, before plunging down a 13m / 44ft drop into the black hole.
A quarter of a million tonnes of soil was dug away from the hillside to accommodate the ride. The rail framework was completely covered by the large green and yellow PVC-covered structure, which was rethemed in 1998 and re-coloured in blue.
